30 Days and a Motorcycle

It's been 30 days since the beginning of my VFF challenge/experiment. Wearing FiveFingers daily has provided opportunity for plenty of firsts when it comes to 'near barefoot' activities. Among those firsts include places I've worn them such as work, church, and the beach. Weather firsts include snow and rain. I have ran the Great Aloha Race, snorkeled, hiked, geocached, trained (just started), and even built snowshoes with my Scouts in my funny looking footwear.

Tonight, I drove a motorcycle in them. However, I'm not sold on motorcycling being an appropriate VFF activity. The top of my foot would get a little sore from shifting gears after extended driving, and the lack of protection in case of a spill or a need for dropping feet down while the bike is still moving was concerning.

I wore flip flops while driving a motorcycle, once, and won't do it again. :) I'm a fan of boots when it comes to bikes.

I would certainly advise against wearing the Vibrams on the bike. As a fellow motorcycle rider I always "suit up" when I hit the road. You've got to protect your body when you ride! I think we can give you a 'get out of jail free card' if you want to put boots on to ride the motorcycle we won't hold it against you!

Good to hear from some fellow bikers. I couldn't agree with both of you more. If I wasn't just taking the bike around the block to try out my dad's new sidecar, I would have taken advantage of that 'get out of jail free' card and put the proper gear on. I like myself too much to be entirely stupid... just a little stupid (the degree is definitely an arguable point).
