FiveFingers, Blisters, and Silicone Spray

During my last medium run I pushed for race pace and ended up with blisters even with socks on. My feet have been blistering during barefoot training runs, and I have not given them sufficient time to heal before continuing my training. My impatience is largely culprit, but I can't let the three main blister blames off the hook, heat, moisture, and friction. With all three present, these variables cause pockets of fluid under the outer layers of skin. They are often uncomfortable and have the potential to become infected. It's best to avoid them if possible.
It's not often that I miss my long run. Guilt usually convinces me to make it up early the next week, but time wouldn't permit me to do so this time round. To appease my conscience pangs, I decided to to push my pace for a shorter run. Worried about more blister issues, I experimented with eliminating one blister variable, friction. I sprayed the balls and toes of each foot with a liquid silicone spray developed specifically for easy release of wetsuits during triathlon transitions, trislide. I pulled my socks up over the lightly sprayed appendages and fitted my feet with my KSOs.
During the 4 mile run I averaged a 7:18 minute per mile pace, the fastest I've moved since in High School. Running this fast had me pushing off the fronts of my feet, a sure fire way to cause blisters, but I felt no warm spots developing at all. When I returned home and pulled off my footwear, any apprehensions were set to rest. There were no new blisters. Older blisters had not been effected. My feet felt great.
Trislide would no longer be just an anti-chaffing agent. The silicone spray was now a primary weapon against blisters. Bring on the sweat. Bring on the heat. I've got friction licked.

Silicone spray now? I only knew silicone rubber had its benefits but I never knew there was so much more to it.
Silicon spray will do the trick for blisters on feet. There are other products that work as well, if not better, especially for runners. There is nothing more aggravating than getting foot blisters before or during a marathon. We welcome you to review informative articles at
