Running in FiveFingers: I'm Back but a Little Off-kilter
Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:16AM A triathlon one week ago was my 1st run after 6 weeks of recovery from top-of-the-foot pain. 6 miles at 7:30 min/mile was pushing myself, but it felt good to back into it.
For a recovery run, I did an easy 4 miler in bare feet on Monday. I ran a more aggressive training 8 miler today 8:45 min/mile. My legs felt imbalanced, quads were tensing, and I didn't feel I had my gait down. Undoubtedly a little sloppy. I was also feeling a fair amount of tightness in the bottom of my calves.
It did feel great to be back to running. It's strange how I have missed it. I look forward to loosening up and getting back into it. Run, run, run... A mountain marathon for the end of August, and a 50 miler in October. I better hop to it.
